Junior Optimist Club of Burlington

The Junior Optimist Club of Burlington, also known as JOI, is supported and mentored by the Optimist Club of Burlington. Members are students from Grades 6 to 8 inclusive. JOI elects their own President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary each year. They select their own projects and activities to improve experiences for youth in Burlington while at the same time accumulating volunteer service hours. Junior Optimist International is the umbrella organization under Optimist International that links JOI clubs in the Central Ontario District, the Region and Internationally. JOI members have the opportunity to also run for election at the District Level and internationally. They are also the first to be informed of initiatives organized and funded by the Optimist Club of Burlington. With the organization's official name change to "Junior Optimist International," we have new logo! This refreshed look ties into Optimist International's upcoming re-branding efforts and demonstrates unification with our adult Club counterparts.

The Junior Optimist Club meets twice a month on [????} from September to June inclusive. Sometimes they meet elsewhere to work on projects in the community such as foodbanks and other organizations like Food4Kids. In addition, they have the option to gather additional volunteer hours at Optimist and community events.  Members work on Personal Growth objectives as outlined by Optimist International and earn medallions in recognition of their achievements. Below is a photo of the Junior Optimists in June of 2016 with their medallions! Congratulations to all of them on their achievements.
